Rewind to 2019 and who would have thought that the face mask was soon to become the symbol of our times!?  Those that wear them are convinced of their necessity, while those that don’t (apart from when mandated to) despise them.  It is a polarised topic indeed!

As a surgeon in a prior chapter of my life I became very familiar with wearing masks but even then did not enjoy experiencing the barrier to my natural breathing and the effect it had on raising my body temperature, bearing in mind the role breathing plays in moderating our temperature.  However, the length of time of wearing masks for surgeons is short when compared with the duration that most people spend donning their masks every day in current times, both in and outdoors.

The Beginner’s mind

For those who have followed me for some time it will come as no surprise that I fall into the ‘non mask-wearing brigade’.  Having said that, I am also a believer of the power of adopting a ‘beginner’s mind’ on an ongoing basis when assessing information, particularly when that information carries significant consequences.  I have had to do this repeatedly with the mask-wearing question. A ‘beginner’s mind’ requires that we review our perspective from the proverbial ‘blank canvas’ position, frequently revisiting the facts to ensure that what we believe is true, is in fact so. 

It is unwise to remain attached to our chosen viewpoint ‘at all costs’ particularly when it hurts our health. We need to be mindful that it is NOT a weakness, in fact it is a great strength, to adjust our opinion on a matter when new evidence supports it. I believe letting go of past convictions that are not serving us has become a critical consideration for humanity if we are to steer our collective path through this Global Crisis and beyond in a manner that serves our Greater Good.

With that being said, the following is a list of the reasons why I have come to the conclusion that masks are NOT serving us in spite of there being ongoing advice to the contrary.

Why masks can harm your health!

  1. Oxygen is the fundamental requirement for life! This is an undeniable truth and there can be no argument that we cannot survive more than a few minutes without it. The same holds true when oxygen uptake is suppressed over extended periods of time as is the case with frequent and long-term wearing of masks. Many esteemed scientists have addressed this key point in the arena of health.

In all serious disease states we find a concomitant low oxygen state… low oxygen in the body tissues is a sure indicator for disease. Hypoxia, or a lack of oxygen in the tissues, is a fundamental cause of all degenerative disease.”

Mask-wearing reduces our oxygen intake and the resultant level of oxygen delivery to our tissues. This negatively impacts the cellular terrain and every organ system of our bodies making us MORE prone to disease, not less.

2. Breathing plays a crucial role in detoxification and homeostasis for the maintenance of health. It is a seldom sited fact that our lungs are responsible for 70% of our body’s constant detoxification efforts through elimination of carbon dioxide.  By impeding the release of carbon dioxide through mask-wearing we are impeding this crucial life-preserving wisdom of the body, contributing to a lowered pH in the body which adversely affects all our body’s metabolic functions including suppression of the immune system, our greatest ally in health!

Dr. Margarite Griesz-Brisson MD, PhD and a neuroscientist had the following to say about masks and their effects on our brains.

“The rebreathing of our exhaled air will without doubt create oxygen deficiency and a flooding of carbon dioxide.  We know that the human brain is very sensitive to oxygen deprivation. There are nerve cells for example in the hippocampus, that can’t be longer than 3 minutes without oxygen – they cannot survive.

The acute warning symptoms are headaches, drowsiness, dizziness, issues in concentration, slowing down of the reaction time…. However, when you have chronic oxygen deprivation, all of those symptoms disappear because you get used to it.  But your efficiency will remain impaired and the undersupply of oxygen in your brain continues to progress. We know that neurodegenerative diseases take years to decades to develop.  If today you forget your phone number, the breakdown in your brain would have already started 20 or 30 years ago.

While you’re thinking that you have gotten used to wearing your mask and rebreathing your own exhaled air, in actual effect the degenerative processes in your brain are being amplified as your oxygen deprivation continues.

The second problem is that the nerve cells in your brain are unable to divide normally. So in the event that our governments generously allow us to abandon the masks and go back to breathing oxygen freely again in a few months, the lost nerve cells will no longer be regenerated. What is gone is gone!

3. The negative psychological effects of mask-wearing are considerable and cannot be overstated. A study on 25,930 children involving 363 doctors reported the following health impacts from mask-wearing: Increased irritability (60%), headaches (53%), difficulty concentrating (50%), reduced happiness (49%), reluctance to go to school (44%), malaise (42%) impaired learning (38%), drowsiness/fatigue (37%), shortness of breath (29.7%) and dizziness (26.4%).

The psychological impact of mask-wearing reported in adults has included the following: feelings of separation, despair, fear, disempowerment, hopelessness and disconnection from Source.

4. Harmful to your lungs: As reported by CBC News, the ubiquitous disposable blue masks (SNN200642) produced in China have been demonstrated to contain graphene which has been likened to asbestos, and when inhaled can cause severe lung damage. These masks were never tested for safety or effectiveness.

The similar disposable mask (MC9501) has also been demonstrated to be toxic to the wearers and has led to them belatedly being pulled back from distribution in Canada subsequent to an excess of 31 million being distributed in Canada alone.

5. SARS-CoV-2 has a ‘furin cleavage site’ that allows the virus to more easily enter the cells when oxygen levels decline as is the case with mask-wearing. This makes the virus more pathogenic with an increased risk of disease severity.

6. Masks serve as a breeding ground for microbes including bacteria, viruses and molds supporting the increased incidence of bacterial and fungal pneumonias being diagnosed in hospitals around the world.

Are masks effective in preventing transmission?

In spite of the significant negative impacts of mask-wearing on our health, and let’s never forget that their sole purpose was intended to protect health, if they performed the function they were allegedly introduced for there may be some argument for their use in certain situations? 

However, numerous scientific studies that have been conducted without a financial vested interest are concluding that they are NOT effective against viral transmission. Leading epidemiologist, Dr Anders Tegnell in charge of Sweden’s pandemic response summed it by stating that the scientific evidence for mask-wearing is ‘astonishingly weak’, adding that the enforcement of mandatory face masks could backfire.

So why does pervasive mask-wearing persist?

  1. The power of propaganda is considerable! Mainstream media’s focus has been on relentlessly drumming up fear of the virus based on ‘case numbers’ that do not equate with symptomatic disease. ‘Case numbers’ will rise in line with increased levels of testing, but is NOT a reliable indicator of real world situations. The result has been that most people believe that their life is at risk in spite of true statistics not substantiating this fear.
  2. Decades of societal indoctrination has led most people to unquestioningly assume that governments, health officials and organisations fronting as health regulatory bodies ‘know best’ and ‘have our best interests at heart’. This has led to a concerning level of blind trust and lack of critical thinking in spite of glaring inconsistencies from these ‘authorities’.  (Note: There remains many good doctors and nurses, however many are also deeply indoctrinated by the false information from a system that is funded and dictated to by wealthy plutocrats and the pharmaceutical industry who have their own agendas).
  3. There has been a distinct lack of focus in the media and the ‘health industry’ on what the population could be doing to enhance their immune system which would empower them and help to dissipate the fear. (Please never lose sight of the fact that a good immune system, which can be nurtured and enhanced at any age, can withstand any disease!)
  4. Censorship of the truth has been unprecedented, preventing easy access of the truth to many.
  5. There is a BIGGER agenda unfolding. The pandemic and associated fear-mongering has been engineered as a catalyst to further this disquieting cause. If you still question this I invite you to review this too with a ‘beginner’s mind’. There is irrefutable and overwhelming evidence to support it.

What do we do?

Few people are able to resist the power of propaganda which is why mainstream media is best avoided altogether! Consider revisiting the facts and become a critical seeker of the truth from non financially-vested sources of information. You may wish to consider these sources of information as a start.

While we cannot ‘turn back the clock’ on the effects of masks, we CAN make a difference to our health going forward by making different choices.  I understand that you may find yourself in work or other situations that mandate the use of masks making them difficult to avoid.  However the gravity of the health risks are such that it requires that we ‘step outside of the box’ to arrive at solutions to minimise their use.  Your health and humanity’s Awakening depends on it….
